On July 23, 2022, Del. Michelle Maldonado attended an awards ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of blind and visually impaired students in Prince William County. Also in attendance were Commissioner Rick Mitchell and Deputy Commissioner Pam Cato of Virginia’s Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI), and Art Dean, Executive Director for Access and Inclusion at James Madison University.
Maldonado thanked all participants “for supporting our kids,” and expressed “a special congrats to Unity Reed High School’s rising senior [and award winner], Ada Bernal!”
