On May 11, Del. Michelle Maldonado attended a community dedication ceremony for the new Prince William County Crisis Receiving Center (CRC). Located on the former Gander Mountain site, the CRC will provide immediate access to behavioral health and crisis care for patients. When completed in 2024, the CRC will offer both observation units and residential beds for adults and youth in mental crisis.
The CRC facility will also house eight Community Services (CS) programs, making it easier for those who need ongoing support following urgent assessment and care to make those connections. The CS programs include Access, Trauma, New Horizons Youth, Assertive Community Treatment, Peer Drop-In Services, Medication Assisted Treatment, Drug Offender Recovery Services and PATH/Homeless Services.
Del. Maldonado noted the influence of Potomac District Supervisor Andrea Bailey on the project, calling the event “an incredible moment, inspired by [her] heart and vision and voice [and] made possible by deep collaboration between community members and public servants.” Emphasizing the importance of the new facility to the county and beyond, Maldonado stated: “This will save lives.”
At the event, Bailey thanked both the community and her fellow members of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, who voted unanimously to establish the CRC.
